why are external cd-rw's so expensive, and they are slower than internal's?

So if you need fast external drives SCSI is the only way (look at Plextors 32-12-10 USCSI) Why they are expensive? well you pay extra for the housing, the PSU and cables (and terminator if SCSI). rock8785 12-03-2000, 03:24 PM Most likely I will have to get a usb, cause I am 98% sure I dont have a SCSI port. The external ones I have seen are 4x4x6. Are they on the same level as internals, what I mean is, is a 4x4x6 external as fast as a 8x8x24 internal? A 4x4x6 external (4 speed write, 4 speed rewrite, 6 speed read) is slower than a 8x8x24 internal (8 speed write, 8 speed rewrite, 24 speed read). SysOpt.com
