What can I say? The guy needs to elaborate more in the "get more performance from your cable modem" section. The first thing you should do is TEST THE DARNED LINE with a signal meter! I could spend a month checking the 10,000+ feet of RG-6 coax in my house for staple holes: If it works, leave it alone! He should also check his NIC performance sources as well:

A good network card. Also known as a Network Interface Card, or "NIC." Intel and 3com are known to be good, while Lyncsys, D-Link, Farralon, Netgear, Maxtech, and many others, are known to be poor.

Where does he get this information is what I want to know?! Intel and 3com are some of the WORST performing NIC's IMHO. Netgear and Trendnet are superb, yet very cheap. 3com 10/100 NIC's can cost up to $100, yet a Netgear card sporting an identical PCB and electronics cost $20-25.

Anything else I forgot? Anything?

great article, thanx 4 the link. if you need
an indoor booster ("house amp") not all
are bad. check the spec sheets, some
boosters have much lower noise figures
than the radio shack boosters.
