What is the differance between a SCSI hard drive and a IDE? I know that a SCSI uses adresses and IDE uses IRQ's but what is the real diff.?Can you play games faster or use windows programs fast than one with the other? Why hasn't SCSI become so mainstream with big computer manufactures? It was my friend's belief that you can set a ide to become a scsi if you use a card? Thanks for your help SIC...

Hi, the difference that I know of is that the scsi hard drives normally are a lot faster than IDE ones. Also, the transfering of data is a lot more stable because you are using the scsi card more and not the processor like ide drives. SCSI is mainly used for companies who need a drive that is fast enough to handle a lot of clients or just needs a faster rate of data. They do have IDE raids for companies, but I think the reason for that is that smaller companies don't really need the scsi raid, and/or they can't afford it. You cannot make an IDE hard drive scsi just by attaching a cable and a card. It just doesnt happen.. Good luck..hope this helps! Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.
