Does anyone know how to get your m/b to detect that there is a sound card?
Because i have sound blaster live and whenever i start my comp it beeps and says that sound blaster emulater has not loaded.
I went into bios and into the i/o device config and then into onboard resource control and it is not even letting me select to enable emulator.
It only shows the two onboard ac97 audio controller and the modem controller.
Its as if the mb cant even see there is a sound card there.
So if anyone has any info on this matter i would greatly appreciate it.
thanks

If you are using W98, try using Add New Hardware in Control Panel. It may be necessary to remove or disable the other Sound Device(s) by using Device Manager in System, also in Control Panel. Look under Sound, video and game controllers

The emulator serves as sb16. It is not a seperate device but it has a seperate irq. It sounds to me that the emulator is in conflict with another device. I would move the card to a different slot, then in device manager change the emulators irq. Find an irq that will not be used durring legacy sound use. You may have to shuffle several cards to find a happy home.

Oh to add what he said above: look in your bios and see if you can disable onboard sound from there.
