I have been playing CT for sometime. I am playing it "out-of the -box".

Are there "tweaks" not cheats that make the game run better.

I feel that I am coming up short alot of times.

Seems I can't hit the side of a barn.

Those tweaks are cheats.. you will get banned from alot of server with those. I recommend to get them of you're system.

I don't have any cheats on my system now nor do I want any.

Let me ask this way. Can you change any default settings to improve game play? I have played with "RATE" and seems not to make any difference.

I play on a P3 733, 384Meg ram, G-force 2 MX 400 64Meg ram video connecting with a DSL connection.

What kind of frame rate are you getting?? Be sure to play on servers with low pings.

Type cl_showfps 1 in your console. THis will display your fps. You can also type in net_graph x (1-5 = x) these will give you 5 different looks as to what your system is doing in relation to pings, chokes and frame rates. If it is FPS then lower reslolution and try playing in 16 bit color.

I try to play on servers so that ping is about 50 or below. I have used the NetGraph and for the most I run about 60fps..

There has been times where I am right in front of a guy, empty a clip and he kills me in one burst. I look at him in free mode and he is still at 100 health. Go figure. But the game is fun anyhow.
Someday I will figure it out.

AMD, well. I have thought of it, but I here alot about HEAT problems. In fact, here in Knoxville most of the computer part places do not carry them, they say to many problems.

I am thinking of going up to P4. But just thinking for now.

OK...

I did that cl_showfps 1 thing.

My rate was showing 60 all of the time. One thing I noticed is that it seems to want to go higher but something is stopping.
Is this Nrom?
Again, I run a Win2K with a P3@733 on a CUSL2 MB, 384megRam, G2MX/400 64megRam video card with 23.12 drivers connecting to the net with ADSL (Bellsouth).

Try entering this into your console "fps_max 100" w/o the quotes.


As for heat problems with AMD and "too many problems" most anyone here will tell you AMD will at 3400 mhz by the end of this year. Sounds to me someone wants to sell you a overpriced under performing Pentium.
