They have extremely bad customer service and thier product have a life span of just two years; particularly the light bulbs. Rat... Richard_Cranium72 11-30-2000, 06:57 PM I think HP's upper end scanners are best. Here's a link to a $300.00 Business scanner for cheap even though you said money don't matter. This one does 9600dpi @ 36 bit. If you're doing photos , this is overkill(imho) http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=70001684&loc=677 DrVette canit 11-30-2000, 07:09 PM shady are you asking about flatbeds or 35mm film scanners etc? I'd love to have a NIKON Coolscan 3(LS-30). Rat I've got a Umax Astra2200, came with transparency adapter, usb and scsi interfaces all for less than $80US and it works great. If it only lasts two years that's still a bargain. shady 11-30-2000, 11:42 PM i am looking for a flatbed scanner, to give you a better idea let's just pretend that I wanted to replecate one dollar bill, it got very fine web sorta design on the corners of it, i need the scanner to replicate it sharply, exact same color.......IDENTICAL...!!! btw UMAX do suck, the one in school broke down in a month!! ArgusII 12-01-2000, 10:07 AM I've got a Umax Astra 2100U that I've had for over a year. The image quality is great and I haven't had any trouble out of it. Also, I know at least 3 other people who have Umax scanners longer than I've had mine and they have no complaints either. As far as comparing the Umax to other scanners it seems to work as well as the HP scanner my friend owns. I'm not defending Umax, just telling the experience I've had with them. SysOpt.com
