I was reading about this on Axiontech's page, the article said it would use SOI technology and the Hammer would be based on this exclusively. It also said it would mean a 30% raw speed advantage over Intel's .13 micron process.

It also said that AMD was developing this with Motorola. I read the article here on Sysopt about pure silicon development that AMD was working on to decrease the heat output of the Athlon as they ramped up the speed of the chip. I also read Robert Richmond's write up on SOI and he didn't say anything about AMD/Motorola developing the process.

Did AMD/Motorola keep this under wraps,or was it known about and I am just now finding out about it? The SOI article stated that it would be a few years before this would be available on the market, and would this coincide with AMD introducing the Hammer, or will this new chip be coming out sooner than that?
If all this is true,I can't wait for the new AMD chips to come to market..yee-hah!

Motorola has been making high performance RISC chips for quite awhile (for Apple) its no wonder AMD would goto someone with "experience"... I bet Intel hated to see that happen...
