When I try to boot my computer with AMI bios I get this error

cmos checksom catv bad

It does say to select F1 to go to setup
but no response from any key on the keyboard.
I have changed the keyboard but still no response.

Can anyone help

Thanks

Is it a USB keyboard? Often USB Keyboard support in Bios is disabled. Try it again with a PS/2 if this is the case. Checksum errors usually occur if something has changed. CATV error... I take it you have cable internet access? That is what that CATV refers to.. Try checking your modem and such that has to do with your cable modem.

Good luck! I hope I was some help...

It's about time for Scamp Walker's birthday party, isn't it?:)

Does your system boot past the error? Is this error the very first thing that shows up on your screen, or do you see the video bios before the error. If it doesn't, clear NVRAM using the jumper on the motherboard.

I don't agree with SpaceBz. I don't have an answer or even a possibility, but at POST, whether there is a problem with a cable modem, it won't make a bit of difference. Also, the computer wouldn't refer to a cable modem as CATV. It would be described as a LAN by the BIOS.

Does it give ANYTHING else? Beeps, two digit code?

dmoltrup: I have never truly heard of any BIOS related errors dealing with a cable modem, and I realize that is a bit ridiculous to a degree. I merely recognized the acronym, CATV which is the standard abbreviation for a 'Cable TV' or 'cable' internet service, as you know, and I related to the best of my ability what the message contents refer to. Otherwise, I have found no records or information about any similar errors.

-Are you sure that this is the EXACT error message?
