Network via dial-up modem,,, How?

I need to back up a laptop (win98) to my pc (XP)..

but i cant remember how to setup a direct connection via modem??

I'm not sure if you mean a Direct Cable Connection, which requires a cable or IR port between the 2 pc's. Or, you mean Dial Up Network Connection to a remote pc. This requires a modem on both pc's. Here you would setup the Home PC as a server for remote access, then access it thru Dial-Up Networking. Take a look in the Win98 Help Files in your Start Menu. Search the Remote Administration, remote connection, remote computers, Dialup networking. All the info is there. Get stuck ,come back here.:)

I believe you need an external dial-up modem and then the normal networking stuff
