Is the i815 video survivable for, say, Net browsing, MS Office, etc. or is there a marked difference between it and other cards even in 2D??

Chubby,

With the jobs that you are describing the the i815 chipset works just fine for me on my win2k machine here at work. it is capable of "decent" gaming if it is a game that doesn't require high frame rates.

Just my 2cents

Thanks Mntsnow.

Btw, how much RAM is allocated on the board for the i815's graphics chip?? Is it entirely dependent on AGP (system memory)?

I815 will run most all games. It even runs Q3 at about 30FPS as installed.

As for memory, I am not sure how much if any is dedicated, it uses system memory. You can install an AGP memory card...yea thats right, it's a 66MHZ bus memory card that plugs into the AGP slot so the 815 chipset can use dedicated memory.
