Trying to stabilize my Win98 2d edn
OS and used step menu to create Bootlog.txt.
System is working fine but see three fail msgs in the file:
bdis2sup.vxd load fail
MTRR device fail
SDVXD init fail
I assume these are OK-errors for devices I
don't use but would like to know exactly.
Is there documentation for the messages or
programs listed in bootlog?
Microsoft search returns nada for Bootlog
nor for the file names.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I don't have these files on my PC at all. I think you need to search thru the registry and thru the system files to find what's loading them, as they don't come with Windows98SE.

Many Thanks Socalgal.
I could not find this on my own and it does answer my questions but begs another.
On the ndis2sup.vxd, they say it did not find NDIS 2 drivers to support.
Right. Now what might a NDIS 2 driver be?
And wouldnt it be nice to say this instead of "loadfailed"? Not to mention the retard way of describing unload of the temp min disk cache.
The microsoft site is like one of the old Infocom games we used to play going from one puzzle to the next all tucked away in boring mazes.

You're welcome Charles.
ndis = network driver interface specification.
It's a Win98 support driver for a computer using Novell-supplied ODI (Open Datalink Interface) and the IPX/SPC protocol. Usage of this ndis2sup.vxd depends on whether you choose to keep the Novell-supplied client when installing Win98 on a NetWare client.
Don't ask me what that means, I ripped it from the Pro Resource manual http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
