Can someone help please.
I had a system with a microstar motherboard and Athlon700 processor, all worked fine for over a year until the motherboard packed up.

I was sold a Gigabyte GA-7ZXE replacement, but since I built it I can't get the puter to switch off. Everything else works fine, but when I close down windows, the machine immediately reboots. I have even tried to switch on and off begore the OS loads so it is not a software problem. The power switch acts as a reset button, and the reset button works OK
The only way I find around it, is to close down windows and when the screen goes blank, I press in the power button and hold it for 5 secs, then it will goe off.
All case connections have been rechecked and conforms to the manual ie power switch, power led, Hdd led, reset button and spkr. This only happens with this new board.

Find the Power Button (PWRBTN) in BIOS and change it to anything but what it is now. :p

I did as you suggest, and in the bios power management, there is an entry:PME Event wakeup, the manual says default = enable, so I set to disable, and it worked machine switches off now. Thanks:)
