1st of all, you are not going to be able to find a motherboard that does not come with onboard sound. Most manufacturers have added it for OEM customers and for those that don't want to buy a sound card.
If you want to find out what motherboards are good, check out the review sites, like http://www.tomshardware.com, http://www.anandtech.com, and http://www.amdmb.com
All these sites have well written reviews on different motherboards manufactured by most companies.
Asking here only starts a war, everyone has their preference and will bash another brand because of bad experiences. Myself I had an MSI mobo, and now going to ECS for the price.

You can get motherboards without integrated audio or video, but you have to look around. Soyo still makes some, Abit has numerous models, so does ASUS.
As to which manufacturer makes the best boards, it is a matter of taste and features desired. Intel makes good boards but they don't like overclocking. Abit is friendly to overclockers.
Some make great server boards.
What are your goals?

Sorry to do so. I just bought a board from Soyo and one from Abit--the pickings were slim, but I was able to found boards without integrated sound or video. Integrated is definitely the trend.

Well I know that these boards can be found too, but he probably is not the kind that wants to dig for days to find one, or cannot get one in his local area, like me.
The only manufacturers I can buy locally are Asus, MSI, ECS, and Abit. (Ugly choices, I wanted the nice purple Soyo board :) )

I'm lucky enough to have a store within 20 miles that stocks 40-60 different motherboards at any given time.
