Is there any way to play my nintendo using my monitor?

Sure- if you can find a coaxial or audio-video converter for a serial port. I don't know it, but I think there is a way to rig it up to your pc- using the MOBO or video card, and play games on the monitor.

Best of luck,

I never heard of an adapter like what Tech described. You will likeky need to get a TV card that has the inputs you need, they are sold with coax in and coax & line ins. WinTV comes to mind.

Rat is right if you get a TV tuner or a video card with video in it works great i put ATI TV Tuner in my kid sys and now she can play her Play Station on it and watch TV as well but you will need a fast sys to do it i hade TV Wonder in a K-6-2 550 and it had lines troughout the tv when trying to veiw it at full screen i had to upgrade it to Athlon to get good quality in full screen

Rat, at Radio Shack I have seen converters that would allow coax-to-audio/video transition. Would that be enough to run the nintendo off the monitor?

It's a 800TBird so I'm fine. So I need a TV card or converter? I was going to get a TV card anyway. Cool.

Camaro:
Get a TV card. With it you can even capture stills from a video camera, VCR, Nintendo or directly off the air. You can even capture semi-low quality clips and save them as AVI's.
If you want to up you want to upgrade your graphics card, 3DFX makes a graphics card/TV card combo, it's the VooDoo3 3500TV AGP, it's at: www.3dfx.com (http://www.3dfx.com)

Mike,
To answer your question, you need some sort of hardware on your computer that will recieve either an RF signal or a vid/audio line signal and covert it to display onto your monitor through the computer. You cannot simply feed a signal into your serial port and expect it to show up on your monitor, it requires certain hardware and software.

I do know one thing: you can do it with Dreamcast

I have a catalog called MCM Electronics. I just got it today. This is what it says: "VGA adaptor to connect Dreamcast to a VGA monitor" - $39.95. They also have a cable that you can use to hook up to your stereo (probably just a standard RCA 1/8" cable).

I was thinking of getting a DC because of Half Life. Now I know I can (a)output it to my computer (can have it in bedroom) without having to buy a tv and (b) play it through my kick *** stereo http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Sorry, I know this doesn't help, but it may help other DC owners.

Warthog, before ya race out and get ya DC, the vga break out box is only compatible will some NOT all games. Don't ask me why, but that is what sega says, just like games must be compatable to use the vibration pack they must also be compatable to use the vga box, well thats the way it is here in Australia so i don't know why it would be any different over there. But you could do it with the methods below (i.e. tv tuner card, fast pc etc..). DC is a great console, esspecially for the price, out here it is $299 compaired to the PS2 at a wopping $749! The graphics are hardly any different in my opinion, DC wins in some games while PS2 wins in others. DC doesn't need to be modified to play backup games, use of a "boot disc" by Utopia eliminates the modding, altho the boot disc isn't vga compatable. The games cannot really be backed up yourself tho, different format cd (its actually a GD-ROM not CD-ROM, main diff is capacity but are other differences e.g. disc is read faster from the outside than the inside, meaning most games will actuallyt be written to use the outside of the disc rather than middle section etc...), they can be found tho to put onto cd, because of the size difference (GD = 1gig, cd = 700MB max) sometimes these backups may be ripped of something (cd audio, video encoded to a lower bitrate etc..). PLS keep in mind i don't support pirating games, i use this for back up purposes only, as i beleive the game designer deserve every peny they get.
