Last week I had a post about IDE controllers. I have since clean installed and cleared most of my problems. The remaining proble is not being able to detect a modem.

Looking into system devices (System properties. device manager) and noted that in PCI bus properties - IRQ steering was diabled and that "IRQ table has some errors".

Sine the modem worked until the clean install may the problem lie in teh IRQ steering enabling? (I have done the basic change slots to no avail).

Also, If it notes that the IRQ table has errors, how do you detect what they are?

Is this a VIA-based motherboard?

Go into BIOS and disable COM2 and see if that helps.

Yes it is a VIA mother board and I intend to update the driver. I will check into the disable Com Port idea after I update the driver for the IDE card and review its BIOS set up since I did not know it was adjustable.

The VIA 4-in-1 drivers usually address the IRQ table problems. Have you applied them?

I am doing this between home and office, as I have no modem at home. I will apply and respond when it is completed 3-4 hours.
