Ant static? No I'm not using that :)

Seriously, at work we have anti-static everything, from shoes to table mats to chairs and carpet. When handling computer equipment at home, I'm extra cautious with static as well - but the wrist straps are in use only when there's something escpecially delicate to handle.

I made one from the braid from some scrap coaxial cable, about 2' long, and just put an alligator clip on each end, circle my left wrist and clip it on, place the other end to a ground point on the board...usually the port metal housing on an ATX board. (Commercial anti static straps have a resistor included in the make up. This is to prevent the user from getting nuked if he/she comes in contact with some higher voltage that could be harmfull.)

I use it when I sit down to assemble a system, but when I am in a hurry and just a change out of a board, ect..I just touch a water pipe to discharge myself.

I don't work in a shop, and do not have the anti static niceties that most shops do.

One time I had a customer come in for memory. He pulled his current stick out of his shirt pocket to demonstrate the type that he had. I explained that he really shouldn't do that, but he contested and seemed to get mad at my suggestion.
He called later to sneer that the memory still works fine and the installation went okay.

A few hours after his call he was back in purchasing another chip. UNFORTUNATELY I wasn't able to get over there in time to find out what happened, but I have a hunch! :D

I charge extra when a customer asks about a wrist strap.
