I have never heard of RAID DDR.

RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) is normally a term refering to extra hard drives installed in a system for fault tolerance (hard drive failure).

DDR is a term for Double Data Rate memory chips.

Is it worth it depends on if you want to learn how to set up and use RAID. For home use it is not necessary. For business use it is definitely worth it.
