im confused help me

i picked this out a while ago posted here about it but the person said it was only ddr ram but it says sdram/ddr which meant it supports both i thought? can someone clarify this for me thx.

The mainboards that support both DDR and SDRAM and have sockets for each type, do not allow running both kinds at the same time...one or the other, but not both.

ddr is double data rate SDRAM. Just a newer fancier type of sdram. It supports higher front side bus speeds of over 133 MHz. If you don't have a CPU such as a Pentium 4 that can run above 133 MHz fsb, then ddr ram will not give you any benefit so u should stick with pc100 or pc133 sdram. Most motherboards that support ddr should also accept regular sdram but it would be pointless to buy one if you don't have a cpu that can take advantage of ddr.

Short for Double Data Rate-Synchronous DRAM, a type of SDRAM that supports data transfers on both edges of each clock cycle (the rising and falling edges), effectively doubling the memory chip's data throughput.

As well as being of a different data rate, the physical makeup is different as well as the voltage required to run DDR vs SDRAM
