[This morning my computer was working fine with it's single stick of PC133 128meg ram. I have been trouble shooting and this is where I stand now.......]

I have disconnected everything other than the cpu, fan & power supply. I got multiple long beeps. "Good", I thought. Then I installed one of the sticks of Ram. No beeps, nothing.

I had one of the Ram sticks working this morning. But when I tried to install a new stick of Ram, that was the end of my working computer. (Yes, I used the usual ESD precautions.) But now neither of my sticks of ram are getting me anywhere, in either of the DIMM slots. I have tried them separately in each slot. Any ideas? This is a ASUS board, with KT133 chipset. My fan appears to be working and I have not changed anything else.

It seems like if the mb or cpu weren't working, then i wouldn't get the continuous long beeping when the ram isn't installed.

Thanks for your input, in advance

Hi my name is Paul and I work as a hardware technician. I am having similiar problems with systems I bought from Tiger Direct. No beeps or nothing, except the fan and cpu cooler is working. I did call Intel cause I have the P4 system and asked about the processor. THey told me if the memory is removed, and the beeps are heard, then the processor is good because it is processing the error message. If no beeps are heard, then its most likely the processor. But one time, I installed a socket 370 processor cooler and sometimes it takes alot of pressure to push down on the clamp. My screwdriver slipped off the clamp and went down onto the mb. Not thinking about it, it would not work and I sent the mb back under warranty. THey sent me a bill for 50 dollars because they said the data channels were cracked, most likely from the slip of a screwdriver while installing the fan. Is it possible that you put too much pressure on the memory while trying to install it? If so then maybe you have also some cracked data channels on the mb. Just a thought. Good luck.
