:( I don't know what to do?! I currently have a celeron 550 with 384 sdr ram and a voodoo 5... "Hey don't laugh, its a decent card!" ;) Anyways, The funny thing is i'm a hard time gamer. I need an upgrade. I've really been thinking about doing it with my tax return of $600. Can you help me? I really am considering an athlon xp. I've been looking at www.pricewatch.com everyday to see prices right now the cheapest on is like $320 for a xp 2000+ on a ECS pcchips 830LR with a chipset of sis735. Here is a link for you guys.

I just have a bad feeling about this board. ECS is a brand I never heard of. I just want a reall stable board that uses DDR memory. I don't need anything that goes above 1 gig. Thats enough for me.
Please let me know. Your new board member,

I've had 2 pcchips mobos... don't even ask why I bought the second one. I know others have had good luck... as for me, never again would I buy -- or even accept as a free gift -- a pcchips mobo, unless I was building a pc for a mortal enemy.
Consider backing off on the cpu to a 1900+, and put the $100 (approx) that you will save into a decent name mobo (personally I like Asus and Abit, others swear by Epox, etc., ... cruise around and get more opinions).
With a decent board, you can OC the fsb and get your 2000+ performance or thereabouts.
My 2 cents

ECS Elitegroup K7S5a, aka PC-Chips M830, is the best selling single mainboard ever if you believe the numbers published. Anyway, the PC-Chips group of companies now is the #1 mainboard maker in the world in shipment numbers ... and they haven't gotten there by making ****.
The boards are cost effective, no toys, no nonsense, just good use of what the chipset offers. Simple to set up, good performance, no headaches. In other words, incredibly boring stuff for overclockers, and a good product for everyone else.
