If I've got one PCI card how do I use another video card at the same time? I'm thinking about adding a Radeon All-In-Wonder (unless someone can recommend a better TV card) but I want to make sure my Voodoo5 still functions when I want to use it. How does this work?

I can't help out very much on this one but I do have some suggestions.
Have you checked out the documentation of the voodoo5? Another place to look is on the voodoo web site under support. Look for the issue in Faq's maybe. If that doesn't help a lot then you can ask the support team on the same site. Someone might be able to help you out in here but my way will teach you a little more.
Cheers!
Why don't you save some money and just put a PCI TV Turner card in it instead of the video card I use ATI TV Wonder with GeForce 64 DDR and the quality is great
M$ has supported dual view since 98se (think). I have used old pci card (some cirrus logic or ati card) in conjunction with asus v3400 (agp slot). This is, if the case is you want to have dual view. If you just want to use the card for capturing etc, then I don't know. Trying to drag the live box(input from tv-cable etc) into the second monitor that is controlled by the older card renders the live-screen red(meaning the tv-pic can't be seen). So I would assume that trying to use any of the ati wonder video capture soft in the pri monitor would have the same effect.

i was told when adding a second video card,if the one you are using is 3d,you want to use a none 3d card as your second one something to do with irq/resoures clashes.

I quote 3dfx---
" Double your power, our graphics accelerator is the most flexible you've ever bought.
Instead of replacing your card when you need an upgrade, just add a second.
Our exclusive SLI mode allows you to link two cards together. "
This was on my VooDoo V2-1000 12mb card, a very impressive looking card I might add with dual outlets for 2 monitors, lots of cables, and a heavy array of CPU chips on it.
only bad thing, this card is out of production. Mine was $35.00

uh, yeah Doc, that is VERY old outdated card.
Dputiger, why not just setup with the two video cards you want, and two monitors. I just hooked up a 2nd monitor today and I must say, it's really cool having your desktop span two screens.

I don't like dual-displays--never have. Just a personal thing. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif All I want is a good TV card that I can hook my existing Voodoo5 through and get a decent picture. If I don't need an All-In-Wonder Radeon, great, but I want to make sure I get a good quality product.
I've used a dual monitor setup with Win98 using TNT2 (Primary Display) and a Wacom PL-400 PCI Video Card (Secondary Display).
When you add the driver for the second display adapter, you will see two display settings in your Display Properties box. Just select the AGP Display Adapter as Primary and the PCI Display Adapter as your Secondary display in the Display Properties box. Just make sure you have the setting in your BIOS for InitDisp = Initialize Display set to AGP if you want your system to boot from the AGP Video Card first.
It's pretty nice using two monitors when you want to have two different kind of programs opened in two seperate windows. I used to run Photoshop on the LCD Wacom PL-400 screen, and Corel Draw on the 17" monitor.
Has anyone tried running Dual Monitors on Win2K????

as I'm sure that most of you do.. I have so much extra **** sitting around that I may just do this for fun... a couple of questions first...
1. do the two monitors have to be at the same resolution?
2. when I maximize something on one desktop, does it span across both monitors?? (hehe... i doubt it, but have to ask)
3. will it work if both of my vid cards are pci?
thanks all,

1. No. In fact they can even be different color depths & different refresh rates. I'm currently at 1280x1024 on the main monitor & 800x600 on the secondary monitor.
2. No, it'll maximize to fill whichever screen you are currently in.
3. It should. I think the Windoze "readme" files have some information regarding dual monitor setup. But for me it was as simple as just throwing in the 2nd video card, hooking up the monitor and that was it.
...hmmm, let's see what a PrintScreen looks like. I wonder if it'll give me both screens or just one...
Oh this is too cool. A PrintScreen does grab both desktops at once. Here check this out:
2 monitor desktop (slightly shrunk down) (http://members.home.net/0utpatient/stuff/2monitor.jpg)
You can see my 2nd monitor (with the crappy resolution, 800x600) is above the main one.

Out, the link works fine for me, zskillz, perhaps it is just timing out as it is a fairly big pic, esspecially if you do have a slow connection.

I think the max res for the sec disp was 800x600. Having two vid cards that have 3d accel. shouldn't cause any trouble. It's only that you need to have a third part util that tells the soft which card to use. I used to have ati rage and v2, was really annoying when a game decided that the ati had better 3d cababilities (which it most certainly does not). Dual view is definetely nice thing to have, even if the pri disp was 21" or so. It's just not the same as virtual desktop.
