Internet Explorer Address bar...Clean-out?

I need to clean out the contents of the IE address bar, and I can't figure out how...

The easiest is to click on Tools->Internet Options->General Tab->CLEAR History button.

This is a registry hack. As with all registry hacks you should always do a registry backup. See this page for learning how to do this if you don't already:

If you are regedit experienced go to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\RunMRU]

Click on the RunMRU and on the right you will see all the typed MRU's. Right click on the ones you wish to get rid of and Delete.

Start|Settings|TaskBar&Startmenu|Start Menu Programs|Clear.This will clear the Address Bar and leave your History List intact, right click|Delete on the 1 entry that's left to Delete. Also right click on the TaskBar|Properties will get you there as well.

I believe that the reg key specified: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\RunMRU] will clear the contents of Start>Run and not Inet Explorer address bar. If I am correct the key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplo rer\TypedURLs] stores this value. Also if you have a profile setup it will exist in: [HKEY_USERS\profilename\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs]. I always set my Days to keep pages in History to 0 and then it will only save the current day's info.

Hitting "Clear" from "Start Menu Programs" won't prevent your history from being displayed in the Address Bar if AutoComplete for web addresses is enabled. If you want your history to be gone, you'll need to select "Clear History". If you only want to clear your IE Address Bar, and leave your history intact, then read the following ZDNet article.
