I have just completely screwed my system up by installing the "Via Bus Mastering" software. The problem is, the "Primary bus master ULTRA DMA controller is conflicting with the default microsoft "Primary IDE controller" and I can't un-install the Bus mastering one!! The problem is they're running on the same IRQ's and when i delete the default Microsoft one, Windows XP just reinstalls it!
Can anyone help me either deleting the Via Bus mastering driver for the Primary controller or tell me how to configure my IDE/ATAPI controllers correctly so i can run ATA/100? (currently running in ATA33 which was what made me want to install bus mastering.)

my system:

AMD XP 1600+
Asus A7V266-E with RAID (1004B bios)
Maxtor 40gig ATA133 7200rpm HD
Creative CD burner
Pioneer DVD-ROM
SB LIVE! sound card

Actually you run two drivers of the same thing: IDE controller. Here why they are conflicting.
Try to loal in the Safe Mode, uninstall both of them, and install only VIA driver.

Ok cool, i got it back to normal
2nd question, how do I enable ATA100 on the primary IDE? Because it says it's currently on "ULTRA DMA MODE 2 (or ATA33) how do i change this?
On my primary IDE i have a maxtor ata133 HD and a creative CD-ROM (24/10/40)

Any help will be much appreciated
regards, Andrew

Do you have the CDROM drive and the HD on the same ribbon cable?

If both devices are on the same ide cable, it will default to the lowest ATA value. So your 133 may running at 33 becuase your CD Rom is attached as a slave. Put it on the second ide cable and leave the hdd on its own and then see the difference.
