Which will be the winner? Well, I like the TBird one better, and what I plan to do is, trade the TBird 750 for my Duron 650, and get a Duron 650 in the other computer http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I get a TBird 750 then http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

What is the strengths and weaknesses of each computer?

Thanks for any input!!!

Well both of them will do the trick that needs to be done but if it were my dad i would get him to go with the Tbird so you can do the switcharo with the cpu and over clock his to 750 so he would be none the wiser along with his boss

It is obvious that for his use he should stick to the cheaper system which also happens to be the faster (by far) of the two.

EDIT: That'll be the AMD system. (to be clear)

Unless I'm mistaken, memory bandwidth, memory speed, and FPU power are most important for a number-crunching system, especially one making frequent hits on the memory system for large numbers, as a huge database would.

In all thsoe cases your Thunderbird is the better choice.

Is there no CD drive in the TBird? Tat could present a problem eh? Probably just a typo but even if it isn't I think the TBird is the way to go.

Yeah, thats a Typo, even though the company that made the pricelist listed it without a CDROM, and with 1288 MB of ram http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif For $110 bucks!! SWEET DEAL!!
