I have a 815 mother board with a P-III 800. I have 128 megs of ram and I am running WinMe. I am wondering, since ram is so cheap, $49.00 for 128 Megs, should I buy some more. I mainly surf the web, do word processing, and store photographs on my hard drive. I usually upgrade my computer every year. Since it looks like we will be using a different type of Ram in the near future, would it be wise to buy more ram. Thanks.

You don't do a lot of photo editing, do you (Adobe Photoshop, etc.)? If not, I think you should be comfortable with the 128 if what you described is all you do. By the time you need more memory, better memory types should be out (DDR and improved Rambus).
Just saw your new post http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. I still stand by my answer. I have 128mb PC133. I do fine with it. I am upgrading soon to 384 - BUT only because I will be doing work with Photoshop.

Wart is correct, you prolly don't need it unless you plan on running your memory intensive proggys at the same time. Also that $49 memory is prolly a generic brand, you should stick with the good stuff like Crucial or PNY....it's going for $99 for a 128mb.

You might also consider running PhotoShop and other grphics appications on Win2K or NT4 platform. It runs alot faster and stable on Win2K and NT4 platform over Win9x and ME. This is a conclussion I came to after using the different PC based platforms.
Lasa168, you might want to look here for more info on RAM usage:
