I am using an old AST Bravo MT 4/66.
Recently when I booted up, it said: "lost setup, check for dead battery".
Battery replacement instructions in the manual said: "take unit to the dealer".
Where do they hide the battery?
I see nothing on the motherboard or inside the power supply that looks like a battery.

It looks like a BIOS chip. Be careful!

I happen to have one of those in a heap somewhere. The battery is a rectangular Rayovac Rechargable battery and it is velcro-ed to the side of the case. It should be easy to spot, but I could be wrong.
