It runs everytime system boots (win98SE). If I disable it seti times increase by 40%.

What is it?
EDIT: it runs from win\system32\drivers

Could it be DC filesytem related (DC -> digital camer) and if yes why does seti performance depend on it?

Yes it is the Digital camera file system, but I still wonder why if it doesn't run seti creeps 40% slower...

Here another one: RPCSS.EXE and runs from win\system.

Any ideas on this one?

Hi otheos

I found alot of info on this file/process RPCSS.EXE:

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q193/2/33.asp

http://cexx.org/rpcss.htm

http://www-tus.csx.cam.ac.uk/techlink/workshops/security/NT/sld019.htm

A longdiscussion:

http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/3943.html

I searched my system and I don't have this file, so I can't specifically help as to what's calling it.

Thank you socalgal for your research. I still can't find out what calls it and what it's used for, so I'll just rename it and see what happens.

Thanks again

EDIT: Got a few more (lol):

MPREXE.EXE

running from win\system

and

WMIEXE.EXE

running from win\system

Any ideas what these two do?

TIA
