symptoms:
Every Week or so a printer Driver (HP 4000 LS) gets corrupted and nobody can print.

Temporary Solution:
The only way to fix this problem temporarly is by reinstalling the driver. However every week it comes back with the same problem everytime.

We try:
Deleting the LPT port and creating it again(Temporarly solution).

We reboot and Scan the server for corrupted files. (Temporarly solution).

Please, I would really appricate an answer this problem.

Thanks,

First of all is this a network printer connected to the LPT1 port of the server or do you have a EIO card in it.... and what protocol are you running..

If nothing works, then you might have to reinstall windows. That is, if nothing works. Reinstalling windows will clear every problem you have with any problems with your software and most of the times your hardware too. I know I've done it tons of times.

sorry for the lack of information.

The printer(s) are connected on the network with an hpdirect card and we are only using TCP/IP protocol. The user are connected to the printer using a LPD port (TCP/IP).

Thanks

my theory is.. your printer is getting an IP address dynamically.. therefore every 7 days or so.. it releases the IP address.. and the port name is the IP address.. and not the share name.. to solve this.. assign the 4000 a static IP address outside of the DHCP scope. unless you are using static IP..which you did not mention.
