memory test doesn't stop

I had this problem a loong time ago but for the life of me forgot how I fixed it!

On my friends computer when it boots up the memory test just keeps going and going for a while unless you hit exc. Everything else works fine and it's really not a problem except it's not normal. How do you fix this again? I know I will slap myself upside my head when you tell me

Prepare to smack yourself, Boot into BIOS setup and "Enable fast POST" or similar. Every BIOS differs, it seems. Some say "Enable quiet boot". Look around.

You might also want to download a memory tester. If your bios is counting memory multiple times, there may be a problem.
