I have the ECS P6VXA Socket 370 ATX Motherboard
I just bought a Maxtor 40GB ATA/100 drive.
The drive works fine, but I'm not sure if I should get the ATA100 PCI adapter card. The card is $50 bucks, but until Feb. 2, there's a $25 rebate. According to anything I find online, the motherboard natively supports DMA 33/66/100.
The book for the motherboard seems to say that it only supports UDMA 33/66.
Is there anything I can look at in the operating system or utilities to tell me which mode it's running in? I am running WinXP. If not, is it possible that the UDMA 100 feature is available in a BIOS update?
