Hi all,

I am having trouble getting my RedHat7.2 system to connect to my ISP.

I have a standard workstation class install of RH7.2, with the medium security setting (which should allow outgoing connections).

I am using KPPP to dial. Modem is dialling in ok, I am hearing it connect.

When it comes to authenticate with the ISP it just times out with message:

"Timed out waiting for ppp interface to come up"

PPP is installed, and appears to have all the right permissions. I am doing everything as root user. Username and password are definitely correct, as are primary and secondary DNS I have setup within kppp (all works from windows).

I have tried various types of authentication - PAP, CHAP, and using the default login script.

The ISP has not been much (any) help so far - I have phoned them, and emailed them asking for a login script suitable for dialling in from a linux system, but they just say that they don't support linux.

I have tried reading various Linux HOWTO's, but so far can't see anything wrong with my setup.

This is very frustrating, and I think it is probably one small thing I haven't done which is causing the problem.

Any suggestions welcome...
