i am having problems with my HP 7100i and /or CD Creator.
i just copied a disc without problem. i tried to make another
copy - everything went fine till the end - "writing TOC" - then
the recording failed with the following message:
"D0100:I/O error (05/2C/04) - Read error - cannot read from
blank area of the disc"

You could have had buffer overruns. I had problems with my slower system, a 233Mhz, until I upgraded to an 1.4Ghz cpu.

You might check your chipset drivers. I was using VIA 4in1 4.35 drivers and my cd/rw directcd software stopped working. Reinstalled the 4.34 drivers and all is okay.

did you copy a cd or did you just write data down from
your harddrive?

I'd suggest updating the software and the firmware (http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpcd-write9677_swen.html?Submit.y=8&Submit.x=9) for the drive. And updating (http://www.roxio.com/en/support/roxio_support/software_updates.html) Easy CD Creator, if you have not already done so.
