Is there any way to specify refresh rates depending on what resolution you are running in?

For example, I have my Iiyama VisionMaster Pro 450 and a Elsa Gladiac

At 800*600 this combination is capable of a 160Hz refresh rate.
And at 1024*768 it is capable of 140Hz, 1280*1024 at 100Hz and 1600*1200 at 85Hz.

Is there any way to set it up so when I change resolutions it will automatically use the highest refresh rate possible for that resolution?

For Example, I am running my desktop at 1280*1024 at 100Hz and when I open a game such as Red ALert 2 which I run in 1024*768 it will switch to that resolution, but will run at an iferior refresh rate. That is the problem.

I can go into the display properties and adjust everything there, but it is a big hassle when I am constantly switching resolutions.

Basically I want to be able to set individual refresh rates for each resolution that windows will use when switching between resolutions.

I can put it on optimal but then every resolution runs at 85Hz.

Any suggestions?

This is a video card setting.
V Sync - This feature synchronizes a game’s maximum 3D rendering frame-rate to the vertical refresh rate selected for the current display mode. With a 75 Hz vertical refresh rate, for example, a game with V Sync enabled would not be able to render frames faster than 75 times a second, which can result in pauses or lags in the on-screen action as the rendering is delayed to synchronize it with the next screen refresh.

Disable V Sync to allow a game to render frames as fast as it can, even if that rate exceeds the screen’s current vertical refresh rate. This can produce a more fluid and continuous gaming experience, but it can also allow for some screen tearing or artifacts under certain rare conditions.

Software Controlled - Select this option to allow your programs to choose the V Sync setting.
Disable - Select this option to disable V Sync for better 3D rendering performance.
Enable - Select this option to enable V Sync if you see screen tearing or artifacts.

Heh, the hztool in www.3dfiles.com (http://www.3dfiles.com) must be the most requested util ever =) Use that, it can set refresh rates correctly for every resolution you can imagine.
