I've known ISA, VESA, PCI & AGP slots, latelly I've seen others slots such as ACR, AMR, CNR and even PCI 64 bits (I haven't seen any PCI 64 bits card yet)
What are those for??
Any ideas?

Audio Modem Riser (AMR) - This is an Intel specification designed to move the analog I/O functions of sound cards and modems onto a riser card. It allows motherboards to have an I/O slot built into them to make it easier to integrate audio and modem functions onto a motherboard. The specification does not define "an aftermarket standard I/O slot" according to Intel. Basically, the slot is supposed to be filled when you buy a motherboard, with the motherboard manufacturers choice of modem / audio functions.
Peripheral Component Interconnect Extended (PCI-X) - This is an extension to the PCI interface developed by IBM, HP and Compaq. The extension allows data to be transferred at 1GB per second using a 64-bit bus running at 133MHz. PCI-X peripherals are fully compatible with PCI and vice-versa, but will not run faster than the chipset or peripheral allows.

Would this mean that if the motherboard has that AMR slot then it doesn't have an onboard sound?
I don't get it....
How about this board, does it have sound??

If it doesn't can I just add any sound card or does it have to be a special one? why would it have Line In, Mic, etc... if it doesn't have sound included on the board??

Looks like it has onboard sound so the riser card can use it but onboard sound can be disabled in the bios if you want to use a regular soundcard just be sure to pull out the riser card if you get one. At present I wouldn't recommend this board since reading some lenghty posts about it having problems, the price is cheap so the parts on it may not be as good in other words you'll get what you pay for. For $20 more you'd do better with a shuttle ak31 or newer 35, it has received alot of praise and would consider it myself.
