Right, having acquired my new KG7-RAID (to replace the one I foolishly fried), I've put the bare essentials together (ram, graphics card, processor), and gone to boot it up for the first time. Now, at the first attempt, everything was peachy, and it booted perfectly. However, at the second attempt, and every time since, I've got nothing but a 1-long, 2-short beep code (ie, 'beeep-bip-bip'). So far as I can tell, that indicates a badly-seated graphics card, but no amount of fiddling and reseating it has helped at all. Thing is, I *know* this graphics card works, and it just seems not to want to.
Any ideas gratefully received :)

AGP video cards are hard to seat properly. I was working with a 10 yr old kid on this same problem--I told him to use the heels of his palms to push on the video card until he heard a click. A moment later, I heard a resounding crash asked the kid what was going on. He told me he was pushing on the video card with his heels and lost his balance. He knocked over a chair when he fell off.... system booted properly afterwards.
Gotta 10 year old kid that can help you? :)

Regrettably, no ankle-biters are easily available - but many have accused me of being intellectually their equal :)
I'll just keep trying to get it seated right then...
Could this videocard be an Asus ?! Asus videocards have a long history of incompatibility with Abit mobos, even I had problems with Asus V7700 Deluxe with my Abit KT7A.
And the only thing that worked for me was to press the "Reset" button as soon as those beeps are over, then everything was booting normally.

I'll give the reset trick a try - you never know, after all. :)
No, it's not an Asus card. It's a 16 meg Creative TNT - sorry, should have said so in the first place.

Try if you can using another video card. That way you can cross reference and see if the other card works over yours. You said you fried your last board. The video card could also have been damaged. You may have got one last boot before it went to video card heaven....:D :D :D

Hmm. Sounds possible, actually. I'll have to beg someone else's graphics card. No hope of doing that till tomorrow. ****.
