Just what the topic says. I'm looking for what kind of RAM... brand, speed, CAS rating, ect. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

What is the best chipset to go with this RAM?

I was thinking along the lines of the Via KT133 and Infineon PC133 RAM. I need some more opinions though. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I have to agree with Comtech...
I have been using a PIIIDME (840 chipset) with SDRAM. I finally returned it and got a full refund.
I am now running a Asus P2B-D with 2 PIII 600E.
I have ordered Crucial SDRAM PC133 with a couple of PIII ORB cooler from 3Dcool.
I'll see if I can reach 800MHz...

jl123, are you building an AMD system? I'd say the best combination is Via KT133 with PC133 VCM Cas2.

Well it's for a friend. He didn't specify if he wanted a AMD system or an Intel. So I guess he probably wanted the best overall.

So i guess I can tell him

440 BX chipset with Micron RAM for the intel side

KT133 chipset with VCM PC133 RAM for the AMD side

Mushkin High Performance W/Mosel Vital chipset is exellent. I just checked out their prices for 128megs of the stuff yesterday, it has dropped $80 since I bought mine! The High Perf can run up to 155fsb (or higher in some cases) at CAS2, and 165+ at CAS3.
