Is it me, or is Address.com starting to suck now? It routinely disconnects me anywhere from 10 - 45 minutes on each connection.
Are there any other ISPs out there that have banners that don't hover (cover) any portion of the browser?
I've been using NetZero some a few months now. Their latest is MUCH better than previously.
Their banner is 3/4", full width, across the top. Reduces over all height, but does not cover anything. I've gotten used to it & think it's not too bad on a 17" monitor.
Every so often there's a warning window that pops up, stating you'll be kicked off in X seconds unless you hit "OK"
One quick click & it's gone, you stay online.
It's evidently their way of preventing unattended usage.
Connection speed has been pretty good, ave 44K, and few busy signsls.
I'd recommend 'em.

44K average?????
I use NetZero when my Cable internet goes down, and I get connection speeds of MAYBE 24.4 http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
MTP - Yep. Shows 44 right now.
They've got several local #s here. Some of those seem to give slow or poor connections, while others are great.
Try another phone # if possible.

With 56k access readily available anywhere now for $7.50 a month (or less) why hassle a free service, its just not worth the aggravation associated...

I use Altavista as a backup to my cable modem and I am quite haprry with that. I have also set it up on several friends PC's as their primary connection and the bar at the top of the browser isn't that bothersome.
Most everyone enjoys it and you can't beat free.

I have cable but keep Freelane as a free ISP and Always Connected to stay online. Look here:

I too use NetZero and get 44-49666 connection all the time. And hardly busy. Getting DSL too on the 29th. Can't wait either. Will keep NetZero and Juno as backups though.

I have a link that is a gold mine to free ISP's.
http://www.nzlist.org/user/freeisp/
Take advantage of it. On the left column it breaks them down by banner / no banner. Some where on there is a side by side comparisons of all free ISP's they have posted and what they offer.
I personally have DSL but have setup many of these on peoples machines. Be aware that free ISP's that have no ads tend to not be around long.
Good luck!

Netzero sux, even though it's "free". You have to click an ads all the time or it will knock you off, I mean, it's bad enough that I must see the ads, but clicking on them sux. The connection sux. When connected, it's slow because the ad box is always downloading new & dull ads. The is NO tech support. Even for free, it's not worth it! I have heard that bluelight.com is okay but never tried it.

I am using Juno(free). It always connects at 50667 and it is really easy to get around the adds.
ISP's in US put banners in your screens?
Muhahaha, that's lame =)
In Fi freeisp means freeisp, no banners, nothing =)

Hey RLT65, There's a program called Stay Connected. I forget where I got it but it works. Maybe use any search engine to find it. If you use Stay connected with Netzero you don't have to click on any ads or answer that little pop up thing. LOL Had a large download. Netzero was still connected abot 4 hrs after download completed. LOL http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
