NDC 11-19-2000, 01:03 AM It may be a CDRW media incompatibility problem. I've run into a problem where I burned data on a CDRW media and when I try to format the CDRW in the same drive that I burned the data on, it just wouldn't reconize that the CDRW was in the CDRW tray. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif Try using a different brand of CDRW media or try formatting that CDRW that isn't being recognized in a different CDRW drive to make sure that the CDRW media isn't defective..... If the CDRW is formatting on a different CDRW drive, like I said above, the CDRW media may be incompatible with your CDRW. canit 11-19-2000, 04:19 AM I have a Sony CD writer and I haven't had a problem with CD-RW's so far. What brand CD-RW it? The Sony's I buy come preformatted to save time(usually cost more though), but I have tried BASF, Acer and Memorex brands. Beemers 11-19-2000, 06:35 AM If it is the sony Expressa with the hot burn program, did you use the patch when you set it up? I have it here if you need it. Cheers! NDC 11-19-2000, 06:54 PM device is not ready That is the message that is given when CDRW is incompatible with your drive or the CDRW media has gone defective. I've run into that problem with my Plextor using Memorex CDRW medias. Writing the data on the Memorex CDRW straight out of the package was no problem, the incompatibility problems began when It came to re-format the CDRW media. The strange thing was that the CDRW was able to be recognized on my Sony CDRW drive and was able to re-format it there. Trust me and try the following: (1) Try formatting the CDRW on another CD Burner, if you have access to one. (2) Try using a different brand of CDRW media. Write to it once and try re-formating it. You will notice in time that some brand of medias work great on some and work like **** on others. Try to find the brand of media that works best on your CD Burner and stick with it.... TOP JAZZ 11-20-2000, 03:26 AM Brand matching is always a possibility but also remember that the 700 CDR's are not officially quarantied in reliability by many CDR-RW vendors - HP being one of them. The manufacturing technology, however embraced by the market is not fully accepted by the industry. So be sure if you go that route, that you get only high end CD's of that size. daveleau 11-20-2000, 04:20 AM I bet it is a bad disk. A sony disk should work in a Sony drive. Dave NDC 11-20-2000, 07:39 AM Oh, was it a SONY CDRW Media? In that case, most likely the media is defective... Beemers 11-21-2000, 04:24 PM The HP 9350i supports the 80 minute disks. I just bought the writer yesterday and made sure that it did. The 9350i comes with a system backup utility as well. Nice feature. I give the 9350i the thumbs up on ease of use. Nice smooth install as well, even on a Compaq. I have to get a "Y" adapter for the sound to work on both CD ROM drives though. Cheers! (The new Web Cam Pro, Logitech isn't to bad either)-(Do you think socalgal would come up as a shadow figure?) Want to try it out socalgal? SysOpt.com
