I never heard of it called A+ Certified PC engineers exams, but then again i got my A+ back in 99. If you have any questions im all ears...... :D Dazman1 01-24-2002, 11:16 AM Thats the one i mean..... two exams right??? ....Core and wondows/dos! Couple of questions... 1).What basic knowledge is needed for these exams 2).Are they multipule choice? 3).Are they hard! Is it easy to get a job in computer industry with this qualification? thanks! rockinmale 01-24-2002, 12:21 PM Yes, you are right there is a core and a windows/dos exam. Im sure things might have changed since windows 2000. Actually, from what i heard the test was much harder when i took it back in 99. Anyways, to answer your questions The questions are multiple choice Alot of the questions are hard. Meaning they word the questions in such a way that there's a possibility for multiple answers. Obviously you must choose the best correct answer. As for basic knowledge.....Are you taking a class or just trying to do this on your own? Im asking this question because taking classes give you more hands on experience than just reading the material. The exam itself is more related to book smart rather than hands on experience. Believe me, i have worked with some people that have passed the A+ exams and couldnt even swap out a piece of ram. As for the job market. It's very slow its really hard to find a job at this time with the economy, but then again it could just be my location. Basically A+ is just a piece of paper that tells the employer Hey im competent enough to complete the job. You will end up probably doing alot of contract work in order to get some field experience. In my opinion i believe its the field experience employers are looking for rather than that piece of paper. I really cant recommend any books since things have changed since windows 2000 was released, but im including a link to a website that will contain useful knowledge you will need for upgrading and repairing PC's. [Que Eigth Edition] Upgrading and Repairing PC's (http://cma.zdnet.com/book/upgraderepair/index.htm) I hope this answered your questions......If you have any more....Just send another post note........ Take care on your new adventure and good luck!!!!!:D Dazman1 01-25-2002, 05:42 AM Thanks a lot.....thats really helpfull. Im doing a course based on the exams.....i've built a couple of pcs and upgraded loads...I just didn't want to take on something out of my league!!!!! thanks again! Fat_Rob 01-25-2002, 06:34 AM Good to hear about a fellow newb trying to get certified... I passed my exams last spring. Well, first... the exams were harder than i really expected. I really thought they were gonna be bogus. Lucky I passed em! teehee! There is no set number of questions in the exam now. Basically... if you answered every question right that was asked... you'd be done in like 15 minutes and only had to answer 20-25 questions... i forget exactly. As you miss questions... you'll have to answer more. So don't plan on getting through on 25 questions. They ask a ton of bogus questions that you really have no reason to know. Especially the DOS crapola. Basically what I'm trying to say is, study hard and don't take it too lightly. You can do it! I did. Try to get a hold of test questions, Transenders. GOOD LUCK!
