I am unable to get information on a BIOS upgrade for my Sony PCV-R522DS computer, either from Sony or from ASUS (the motherboard is a P2B-AE, apparently a P2B variant made for Sony). I found Unicore.com. Are these people for real? Anybody have experience with them? What kind of money should I expect to pay? Note that my computer is running Win98; I've installed a Western Digital 40 gig HD (7200 ATA100), but I had to use their EZBIOS to do it. Some things still won't work correctly. I'd like to be able to use the factory OS and install the HD directly. Note also that the original HD was a 10 gig Maxtor 5400 rpm model. Help? (thank you)

Any other recommended sources for BIOS upgrades?

I've purchased a MR.BIOS bios chip from Unicore to recover a favorite motherboard from a failed flash upgrade. Price was pretty steep. About $70 US if i recall correctly. But it did work well. Hind-sight tells me for that amount of money, I should have just bought a new motherboard though......

Good Luck!

Worth a shot is an email to asus techsupport in tw...here: http://www.asus.com.tw/

There may or may notnot be a flash upgrade that will allow the board to see a 40gb drive but even if there is I would recommend you stick with the bios overlay.
