motherboard/raid problem!

I hope somone can help me with this...
I am running windows XP professional and I have been having a problem with my raid configuration on my kt7-raid motherboard. Right now I am running raid-0, and I don't have anything overclocked. My system periodically crashes for no reason. It happened more back when I had the older versions of the highpoint and bios firmware. It's better now, but still happens, the version of bios I am using is 64, and highpoint 2.3. I am using 2 maxtor hard drives, both 40GB ata100. I am using 80pin cables and everything, I've even had the motherboard REPLACED and both hard drives replaced, and the problem still persists. When I benchmark my drives with sisoft sandra, I score about 16000, which is really pitiful. Does anyone have any ideas? Any input at all would be much appreciated. :confused:

What chip are you using to configure your drive? you might need to upgrade the drivers for it.

I have problems with the ribbon cable, if I touch it my array goes offline - there is a bad connection somewhere. In raid bios you need to set the transfer rates up, at least I did with Fast-Trac Lite.

It's the highpoint 370 controller, it's built into the motherboard.
I just got the update for it, and the newest drivers, and as far as I can tell, all they did was make my performance worse. The controller says both are set at mode 5, ata 100. I even got maxtors udma mode utility and set both drives to 5 just to be sure.

Well, i went to the abit website and did some research.
Abit recommends you using these setting for xp.
KT7-RAID
Revisioins All
Bios version 4A
HPT RAID driver 2.0.1019

They did say the raid driver that's shown about is already embedded into windows xp.

You said your running hpt 2.3 drivers. Highpoint may have them out but abit hasnt given us the okay to use them. They could still be buggy and unstable. So, I would go back to the bios and drivers abit recommends.

I recommend starting from scratch. Flash the bios back and do a clean install of windows xp. Since the lastest htp drivers are on the cd you need not install a raid controller during setup.

Thanks for the input. I already tried that though. Before the 2.0.1024 release, it was horrible! I couldn't even use raid at all in XP. Maybe theres something else wrong with my system.. I don't know. I only have problems when using raid though, I can use the channels separately and it works fine, but If I do striping, my performance goes lower than that of even 1 ata100 drive, and my system hangs completely about twice a day.

16000 on sisoft realy sux man, cause i have 1 maxtor diamonmax plus 40 gb hdd and it gets around 24000. Something is defenatly wrong
Sorry but i have no experience with raid yet, saving money now to buy another hdd :)
