I finally got a network setup at my house. I was all ready to test it for multiplayer gaming, so I started loading games on it. One of the games was Red Alert2. To my horror, I discover 3 cracks in one of the cd's. Because you need a cd to play the game, I can only run one game at a time. The burning program that I have sucks(NTI CD Maker 2000 v5). It starts reading the disk but at 1.98mb, it sits for a minute and then gives me source disk errors. It won't copy the disk. Is there any program that will? I really want to get this game going!

Do you know if you burner in the past will make working copies off of a original? Sometimes it depends on what copy protection is on the cd your trying to copy. Check out clone cd....and see if your burner is supported.
By the way what burner do you have?

I have tried to copy RA2 for the same reason (maybe a dodgy batch was printed?) and failed terribly. The only way I was able to play it over my network was to borrow a mates CD for the match. Other ways are always to install and crack the Game to the Hdd. Everyone would have to but it makes it much faster.
Generally copying games CD's meaning changing the original exe - this means that the game will not play multiplayer. RA2 checks that all the exes are the same - patch version is the same.....this brings up the changed exe and won't let the user join an online game!

For most of my CD-Bruning woes, I just copy the protected CD onto the hard drive (fully and completely) then burn it back onto a CD. Sometimes you'll have to pick up a crack for it, but it does make a copy (its a more stable burn too)

Try and Find Clone CD it defeats almost all copy protection. That is what it was designed for. I just downloaded it today but I can't for the life of me remember where. Try a search for Clone CD on www.google.com

Have to agree with TOEJAM31 the Blind suite wipes out nero and all else I've tried, for games or Audio.

Well, Westwood has some of the best anti-piracy measures i've ever seen. There's only about 3 or 4 burners that can burn RA2 successfully. And if you get a backup cd by copying files to your hdd, then about 10 seconds into the game all of your units die and there's nothign you can do. You might wanna try a different game. From what i hear Yuri's revenge in basically the crack for RA2 because it's apparently really easy to crack.

Well, I managed to make a working copy with Clone CD. First I created an image file, then I burned the image to CD. It runs fine. It took about 30 minutes for it to get passed all the "bad sectors".
Now I have another problem. I want to make a copy of F1 2001 so that I can use that game in multiplayer. But when I copied that, it didn't work. It's probably because it uses SafeDisk, which I hear is really hard to crack. But can it be done?

if you download the "clone cd database" program ,it gives you the best settings for different games.

For the purposes of this site buying it is the right thing to do, if you damage your game making a backup before the damage would've helped but nowadays some of them don't want you to make a backup at all, in that case contacting the manufacturer and asking for a replacement might help if you provide a receipt and serial # asking politely, can't hurt to try.

I have a LEGAL copy of F1 2001, but it's kind of difficult to play a mulitplayer game with only one copy. I think it's stupid for a family to have to buy 2 copies of something just so they can play the game against each other in the same house. Marketing stratagies like that don't make me any fonder of the software industry, and it makes me more and more likely to get illegal copies of everything.
