Hi all

Ive recently decided that if im gonna keep my computer on overnight, it needs to be quieter so i need to change my globalwin FOP38 to something quieter.

Im currently running an Athlon Thunderbird 1.2ghz on an Abit KT7A-Raid and have seen the orbs that thermaltake offer.

The ones that interest me are:

The Thermaltake Slim Chrome Orb DUO 462-2 (http://www.thermaltake.com/du0462-2.htm) (The one adapted for the Abit Socket A Boards)

or

The Thermaltake Mini Copper Orb DU0462-9 (http://www.thermaltake.com/du0462-9.htm)

Im not sure how either of these would run so i wonder if any of you guys would be able to tell me, and if you have any better suggestions on quieter coolers that are suitable for 1.2Ghz T-Birds they would be greatly accepted.

Thanks

Richard

If you want quieter fans, look for low rpm (speed) and high cfm (air flow).

I have her orbs dont do very much in the cooling departmetn Just nice to look at. U could alwyas try a stock heatsink. Will run bout 4600 RPMS and isnt to to load.

I got a Zalman flower cooler and it dropped my temps down slightly, and was damned quieter than the Global WinWBK38

I have the Volcano 7 on my OC'ed XP1700+ (up to XP1900+) and it keeps the temps around 31-32*C
It has a temp sensor on it that will up the RPM's from 2900 to 4800-5000RPMs if the temps get too high. Running at 2900RPM it's not loud at all.;)

That is due to the fact that the fan is 80mm instaed of 60mm... more blade surface to move the air... so it doesn't have to spin as fast... This heatsink is also my pick for a quiet heatsink.

If you are going for cooling power you might want to consider the thermaltake volcano 7
