Ok, here is my problem. I'm trying to set up a very small business at home(I'm a college student that wants to start making some money on the side and eat more than just noodle soup every day LOL). The business I'm trying to set up is about cleaning computers(from the inside). But the only problem is that I don't have a digital camera. Is there a way that any of you guys can provide me with some computer pictures that look really dirty from the inside? Or is there any type of resource available on the net that I could use to get these computer pictures? I hope this is not a stupid thing to ask. Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

George

Hi George,
Welcome to Sysopt.....
I don't think any of the people here have dirty computers http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif , but they might have some pics of the ones they mutilated http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
.

Hey! I can do that! If you don't mind waiting a little while. I work for Best Buy in their PC upgrades center. We do alot of computer cleaning. WHEW BOY! you should SEE come of the computers we get.
Word of advice DON'T smoke around your computer. That is the NASTIEST thing I have to clean out at time. The tar gets in there, its all wet...dust sticks to that..it STINKS. I have seen dust bunnies bigger than a full sized guinea pig. At times I have to take the computers outside with two cans of duster because there is just too much.

heh..enough descriptions. I am going on vacation tomorrow until the day after Thanksgiving. So in about a week, I can get you some photos.

George, here's a suggestion. Go to any local auto dealer or decent size body shop. Offer to clean one or more of their comp's if they'll take before & after pics for you.
I guarantee their's are the dirtiest ones in town, and they MUST have a digicam - the auto ins. companies require it!

You'll get pics of YOUR work, and who knows? You might just get a client, too!

I worked on a 486/DX not to long ago that had so much dust and garbage in it that you wouldn't recognize it as being a computer. The power supply was completely blanketed. It wouldn't have made a good shot for you even.

Wow, looks like there's a company already doing a business like that! I never knew such a business existed! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

It's a well known fact that our earth has approx. 2000 lbs of space dust landing on it every year. The space dust is naturally attracted to computer hardware. There are theories being worked on right now in several well known universities that this same space dust is either sentient or is an alien plot to undermine our human ability to obtain further knowledge of our universe through AI.

Cheers!

If you want to find computers to clean find woodworking shops on your area. I used to manage several lamination and cabinetry shops. Our computers were usually separated from the shop area by several offices and doors. I regularly had to take the computers and printers out to the shop and blow them out with compressed air 90 psi. They would have 1/8 in. thick layers of sawdust covering every thing inside and the fans would be caked up. I used to wear a dust mask to keep from breathing in the cloud of dust that always came out of the computers. The printers would stop feeding from all of the dust on the rollers. I would do this every month. I took this on myself I think most companies like this wouldn't even give it a second thought. I also agree that offering your service for free to a few area business to see what is out there is a great idea. It would give you a little experience with little initial investment. Then you could judge for yourself if there is a good potential for success.
