Hey guys! I'm setting up 4 30gig ATA-100 IBM HDs on my KT7-Raid Mobo. Right now I have 2 HDs per cable connected to the blue ide connector on the board (the highpoint controller). What my main question is, do I need to set up the HDs with a Master Slave type thing for each channel (ide connector)? I want to have windows see all 120gb as one drive.

Thanks guys!

i honetly havent tried that, but I believe you need to do that. The raid you want (I think) is stripe 0. And, You may (I have never tried otherwise) need Windows NT or 2000. Maybe that drive has a RAID software for windows (98/ME?)

Hi,

Yes, you have to configure the HD the same way you configure HD on an "standard" IDE controller.
So, on channel 1, you need 1 master and 1 slave. The same applies to channel 2.

I have configured a RAI0 array (stripe) on my Promise FastTrak66 controller with 4 IBM 22Gxp (9.1GB, 7200rpm), giving me a total HD space of 36GB.

You do not need a "special" OS (as SoopaStar suggested). This is hardware RAID (as opposed to software RAID). The OS is not aware of the RAID controller, and as long as you use the right drivers, it works fine !

BTW, my RAID0 array works beautifully under Win98, 98SE, NT4, ME and 2000 !

Enjoy !
