HI, Does anyone know what and ISO file is?
I downloaded some software and when i unziped it i got only this .iso file?? what is it??
Thanks
ISO = International Standard Organization
ISO is the physical format for CDROM disks and the size, tracks, contents of sector, etc are defined by RED BOOK. If you have a CD-Burner, you can open that file as an image file and burn it to a CDR. ISO is not usable in the original format. I believe there are ISO extractors, but not too sure.

ISO can be burned by EZ CD Creator. IT can also be extracted with a program called Winimage from www.winimage.com (http://www.winimage.com) . You may also come across CIF files, BIN files and a few others. BIN/CUE combos are very popular and can be burned with CDRWIN by GoldenHawk technologies ($50 www.cdrwin.com). (http://www.cdrwin.com).) CIF's are not very popular anymore and can also be burned using EZ CD. There are other proprietary formats that other programs use (Nero Burning Rom for instance). You will come across ISO and BIN more often tho.

Yup, you need a burner for the ISO files otherwise you have to use third-party progs.

If you come across Bin/Cue files, and you don't want to buy a $50 program to burn them, search for "BIN to ISO Converter V2.0 by Tommy R. Lund". This great program will take the Bin/Cue files and convert them to and ISO image file. I have used this program quite a few times, it takes approx 2-3min to convert a 650meg file. Extremely fast working program. I wish I could provide a URL to download the program, but there is no About available, and the readme's do not state a website. If anyone wants this bad enough, feel free to send me an e-mail requesting it.
