I need a bios upgrade for a 430vx Intel board. I went to Intel and they no longer support this board. I want to know if this board will support an AMD K6-2 500 mhz cpu.
Where else can I go?
Award was merged into Phoenix and tells me to go to a private vendor where the cost is $45. Forget it, I'll buy a new AMD XP cpu mobo, and ATX case before I spend $45 on this dinosaur.
The info on the board:
Award Modular Bios v4.51PG
Award Plug and Play Extension v.1.0A 1997
Release 03/03/1997S
i430vx-02071997C-00

You can look over the following site that has some bios upgrades for older boards, but sence you did not mention the make of the board, only the chipset...I could not determine if there is a bios available there for you.

You can also check out the following BIOS site, where a lot of BIOS software is accumulated.

Ok, I see where your board is one of the following:

I430VX-02071997C-00: Houston Technologies or PcChips or Mastonic 5500 or Zida (tomato board) 5SVX or MG (Microgram) or Eurone matsonic ms-5010
(Look under BIOS numbers to find the above info).

I did not see either of these boards at the above site. Some PCChips, but I am unsure of the model supported.

(Look under BIOS upgrades for PCChips, or whatever your board is).
