Without sending the drive out to a service, is there a tool out there that would allow me to at least attempt to recover some data on drive that has data on it? I inadertently started a fdisk on it but canceled(maybe too late) immediately. Basically I have some family pictures on it I'd like to recover. If it a loss then so beit. I can reformat and start with a clean drive. The drive is functional.

Any help please...

Just curious to know at what point you cancelled the FDISK operation? Did you actually make a change?

I think a program like Partition Magic might be able to help you. I don't know for sure, but it is worth a try. Partition magic can alter partitions on the fly without losing data. It might have a utility to help recover from accidents.

Right away!!! I don't think it got past 1 percent. I realize that this may be a lost cause but I need to try to recover these pics for a friend that isn't computer literate. After I did this I just about shot myself for not taking better care. But we all make mistakes at some point in our lives. I don't have PM but I'll look into it. I played with that some time ago.

$500 for a one time deal. I don't think so! Does anyone else have an alternate solution? The data is there but unless I spend $500 for this software, I'm not going to get it with that software.

If you want the program mentioned, and more, free from me, send me a PM with your email. In total, it will be 5.5+MB.
