A friend has an older computer that is having problems and he asked me to fix it but he doesn't have any information on the system. Its obviously been built by an individual as no manufactures info is available on the case or on the the motherboard. It have a TXpro PC82C371TX chip set, and the American Megatrends Bios chips has copy right date of 89-95. The only other info I could find was a sticker on an ISA slot that had the numbers FL7A3899 China. Any help you could provide, or a site with info on finding old boards would be great.

Does it boot? If it does, you should get a string of numbers, letters & dashes that ID the bios. That can be cross referenced here: http://www.ping.be/bios/index.html?http://www.ping.be/bios/main.html

Otherwise, look for an FCC ID # which can be crossed here: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/

The number you gave does not cross as an FCC ID.

The link to AMI at Wim's Bios page (1st link above) gives error 404, but you may still get enough info at Wim's.
