question
i seem to be have fun with my computer now again
question why is it rebooting all of a sudden when you useing thew computer it happen fast and a couple time

got my computer back 15 jan new chip new power pack i had a celerion 433 Mhz chip now he put in a pentium III 800 Hhz, owhich is in BIOS when you look at it at cpu cclock over drive is up by 200 Mhz, when it disabled is goes to 600 Mhz, but the intel id utlitly tell me is a 800 Mhz at 133 Mhz system bus
took it back 16 jan for connect power button and light for coputer and hard drive
17 jan progam crash and it booted 2time
18 jan 1 reboot 2 crash
19 jan 3 reboot 2 in 5 min

what going on???????????
is it the chip that doing it ;,, or what it suppoae to be a 800MhX chip but when you disabled CPU clock overdrive in BIOS is goes to 600 Mhz why???????

also my mother borad is a PC100 systemboard use a intel 440ZX 100 MHZ accocrd to my info, which support pentium II 233`~500 MHz and celeron 266~433 Mhz cpu which was my old one, support both 66.6 Mhz and 100 Mhz front side bus
now a pentium III 800 Mhz is attach when it cpu clock overdrive is enabled, 600Mhz when disables, of which that i do not understand for one, so question what going on would like to know as soon as possable before any thing go wrong
from intel processor frequency id utility state that epected frequency is 800 MHz processor and 133 MHz system bus

wondeing are the motherboard and chip geting along together, if you read the info you know the chip is 133 MhZ and motherborard tell me it support a 100 Mhz front side bus, is it possable?????/

Your problem is your motherboard doesn't support the P3 thats why its rebooting all the time. It could also be heat, but that might not be the problem.

yes i find that out now

i got this info off useing SiSoft sandra, and the yelloow warning when off

Warning W2541: FSB exceeds Chipset rated speed. Reduce FSB.

Warning W2523: Memory bus speed exceeds memory rated speed. Reduce

memory bus speed.

Warning W2542: Memory bus speed exceeds Chipset rated speed. Reduce

FSB/memory multiplier.

Warning W2521: AGP bus speed is too high. Reduce FSB speed or FSB/AGP

In the bios. There will be an option to use 133 or 100mhz fsb.

Also if you clear CMOS, instructions in your mobo manual, it will almost certainly default to 100mhz automatically.

good luck.

i reduce the spped down to 600 Mhz and 100 bus speed downgraded
/W monitor and CPU PnP setup ===== CPU speed Mhz 800 ( 100X8)
CPU clock overdrive ??

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

cpu 800 MHz bit knock down to 600 Mhz
cpu clock overdrive disabled was 200 Mhz over
make it a 600 Mhz

intel utlity report that
reported frequency processor 601 Mhz system bus 100 Mhz
expected frequency processor 800 Mhz system bus 133 Mhz

this is where my computer sit now, ok can i run the chip at this speed no problem????????????????

((((( info receive from one co)))(((Based on the information provided, you are pushing your motherboard to/beyond it's limits. The ZX chipset was originally designed to run at 66MHz FSB and later to 100MHZ. The BX chipset is a 100MHz FSB set. This setup is not be recommended (PIII overclocking) nor would we support or install it. To answer the question "would the motherboard burn out first or the chip", my answer is simply that you will be so frustrated trying to run the machine that you should be replacing one or the other before any damage can occur. )))

(((Whoever installed the CPU should have checked the motherboard specs. The motherboard is running at 100Mhz and the CPU runs at 133MHz.... this is the problem.))))
((((
To summarize – it doesn’t work, it won’t work, and it never will.

It is like you are trying to put a brand new high performance turbo diesel engine into an old pickup. You can get it in, but you can’t get the power out of it.

Don’t over-clock it to the extent that you have. The chip will have overheating problems and can potentially burn out. In addition it will not be stable.)))))))

but yet i go a phone call from the repair guy, he tell me the borad can take the chip as he would never have do it it if did not, but offer get me a borad and celeron chip in return for the one i got for a a just a little credit plus more money, some one try to pull the wook over my eye

Dirtfarmer,

If your board is running at 100 x 6 and you have NO PROBLEMS, leave it like that for a week using it regularily. If you still have no problems, save yourself the money at leave it like that. I don't think a an 800 Celeron will match a 600 PIII in performance.
PIII's have a much larger on chip cache memory.

Where are you from? Is english your second language?

I can't find "outline" anywhere in this thread except in your post. In what context is "outline" being used?

MOBO - motherboard

Can not say that I have ever heard "outline" used "to point out something"

Hmmmm... An your point is?

I thought French might have been DirtFarmer's first language but seems like I remember most of French descent were in Quebec rather than Alberta.

only to find out now i could have got a giga byte motherborad slot am amd duron 1.0 ghz chip 256 pc2100 ddr ram for the same price i pay for te intel 800 slot 1 chip
and i would of had a beeter computer
thinging well hard on the upgrade
and try to sell the slot 800 on e bay

The chip isn't the problem, its the board.
Why don't you just get a board like this for cheap.
i have an even older Aopen board and it screams with just a celeron II @ same MHZ.
http://www.axiontech.com/cgi-local/prdtinfo.asp?prdt=MBACAX37PRO
These boards are for overclockers and you will have no problem running at higher @ 1+ GHZ frequency.
